Winter fruits provide us with the extra vitamins to get through the seemingly endless cold and flu season. Eating certain fruits can help you fight off illnesses and improve your overall health. There are so many different fruits to choose from, grapefruits, pomegranates, and kiwis are a great place to start! They are all winter fruits, so just when you need them the most you can find them at their best.

Everyone’s been told that grapefruits are great for your health. You hear it so often you’d think it possessed magic powers beyond the comprehension of the human mind. It might not be your first choice of fruit, but it does have multiple health benefits. It’s high in vitamin C making it excellent for winter when you need your immune system preforming at it’s best. It also has vitamin A, which is good for both your hair and skin.

If you don’t like grapefruit, you might like pomegranates. I personally enjoy them more. This beautifully colored fruit is jam packed with antioxidants. This fruit contains more antioxidants than red wine! This fruit is also anti-inflammatory. If you have issues with inflammation, this great snack choice! There really is no downside to eating this delicious fruit. They are one of my favorite fruits, and they are definitely their best when they are in season.

Kiwis are also a great winter snack! Just like the grapefruit they are high in vitamin C. They actually have more vitamin C than and the over glorified orange! Even though oranges are far prettier than the fuzzy brown kiwi they don’t hold a candle to them. They enhance upper-tract digestion, so even though they’re a little obscure, you should definitely consider eating them more often.

With so many different fruits to choose from each season it’s hard to decide between them all. It seems impossible, but eating any of the wonderful fruits that grow during the colder months will benefit you! Grapefruits, pomegranates, and kiwis are only a few options. There is nothing stopping you from going crazy and trying all of the delicious seasonal fruits!
